Marlyn Butchins

Marlyn, originally from Zimbabwe, lived a number of years in South Africa and came to Israel with her husband three children and her sister Gail in 1987. Marlyn started quilting in 2003 and immediately fell in love with the craft.  She mostly enjoys making traditional quilts, although she has done some "art" quilts as well.

Some years after her mother and sister were killed in a terrorist attack near Dizengoff Center in Tel Aviv, she initiated a memorial quilt project to honor the lives of her family and the other 11 victims killed alongside them.

She has given more than 35 lectures in Israel about this quilt and travelled overseas with it to several countries.

Marlyn is a therapist working with people who suffer from dementia and Alzheimers, and also a grief counselor.

She is very concerned about animal welfare and has a deep affection for cats, many of which feature in the quilts she has made. Marlyn is a therapist working with people who suffer from dementia and Alzheimers, and also a grief counselor.
